Cambridge, MA (September 18, 2026)—MOTU’s Digital Performer 12 DAW has launched, bringing with it a bevy of new features including Dolby Atmos immersive mixing support, AI-based stem separation, a new Arrangement Strip feature and more.

The addition of Dolby Atmos mixing to DP12 means the software has added a variety of tools to let users mix, render and deliver spatialized mixes in the burgeoning immersive format. Users can place and move sounds, effects, instruments, dialogue or another audio source throughout the three-dimensional sound field as they wish. Immersive mixes can be monitored on a surround speaker system up to 9.1.6 or users can listen to the 3D sound space binaurally on any standard headphones.

Meanwhile, the new Stem Separation feature can be used to split an original mix into individual stems: drums, bass, vocals, guitar, ensemble strings, brass and so on.

DP12’s new Arrangement Strip allows users to re-arrange a song by simply dragging each section’s colored bar to reorder sections across all tracks. Sections snap to each other, but users can also create gaps, if needed, when scoring to picture or other musical situations.

Other enhancements to be found in the update include enhanced Track Freeze ; Main MIDI Controller menu; various Hover effects; MusicXML import; enhanced drag-and-drop file import; new Tags and Search enhancements; expanded Searchingand much more.

Digital Performer 12 is now shipping for macOS (12.7 or later) and Windows 11 (24H2 or later). Pricing remains the same, with the full version running $499 and both a Performer Lite upgrade or competitor upgrade running $395. An upgrade from a previous version is $195.
